Parietal cell antibodies are found in 70– 90% patients with Pernicious anemia, 50% individuals with Gastric atrophy without pernicious anmia and upto 15% of unselected adult population. This assay is useful for evaluating patients suspected of having Pernicious anemia or immune meditated deficiency of vitamin B12 with or without Megaloblastic anemia.
