This assay is useful for evaluating patients with chronic liver disease in whom the diagnosis of Chronic active autoimmune hepatitis is suspected. It may also be positive in Primary biliary cirrhosis, Chronic viral hepatitis and Alcoholic hepatitis. Antibody titres in the range of 80-320 occur commonly in patients with Chronic active hepatitis.
